COPA AMERICA: MASS EXODUS AS ARGENTINA STARS RETIRE


Reports says Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria are set to retire from international football. Others like Javier Mascherano, Lucas Biglia and Ever Banega also want to quit


Argentina lost to Chile on penalties at the just concluded 2016 Copa America which makes it three major finals in three years the star-studded team has lost.

Argentinian media are reporting that the likes of Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria and others are set to retire from international football like Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi has already announced his intention to retire from international football following the defeat saying: “I feel a great sadness right now that this is happening again. I missed my penalty, which was super important. That’s it.
“The national team is over for me. That’s four finals (lost), it’s not for me.
“It’s a made decision, I think.”

After Messi’s comments. Sergio Aguero admitted that members of the sqaud were contemplating retirement after reaching three consecutive finals in three years and losing them all.

However a report from ESPN Argentina claims Javier Mascherano, Lucas Biglia, Ever Banega, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Angel Di María are all looking at potential international retirement.
