The road to who would fly the ruling party's ticket at the September 10 governorship election will be thrown open today as 2304 delegates drawn from the 192 wards in the state will decide who will be the party’s candidate in the
forthcoming election at today's APC primary election.
The party is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that it retains the governorship seat in the state. Critical observers are in agreement that the way and manner the party’s candidate emerges after the primaries would, to a great extent, determine whether or not the party will retain its seat in the state after the main election.
In some quarters, the calculation is that although there are 12 aspirants for today’s contest, the primaries may likely be a straight fight between Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his deputy, Dr Pius Odubu.
The candidates for today's election are:
1.Dr Pius Odubu, the deputy governor of the state.
2.Mr Godwin Obaseki, the chairman of the state Economic Management Team.
3. Barr. Kenneth Imansuagbon, A Philanthropist and two time governorship aspirant.
4.Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), PDP governorship aspirant 2012.
5.Chief Chris Ogiemwonyi, former Minister of Works.
6.Peter Esele, former President, Trade Union Congress(TUC)
7.Senator Oserheimen Osunbor, former governor of the state.
8. Emmanuel Arigbe- Osula, former minority leader, House of Representatives.
9.Prof. Ebegue Amadasun, Chairman, Edo State Hospital Management Board
10.Mr Austin Emuan
11.Mr Blessing Agbomhere
12.Tina Agbara, the only female aspirant.
