Wednesday Kano Pillars were knocked out of the Federation Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Prime FC in the Round of 32 at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Wednesday. First half strikes from Olabisi Olagunju and Lekan Oseolohun were all the second tier side needed to knock out the former Premier League champions despite Ifeanyi Matthew's equalizer. It is the second time the Osogbo-based side have toppled Masu Gida after they defeated Mohammed Baba Ganaru's side 3-1 via penalties following a 1-1 draw at regulation time to emerge the 2012 Federation Cup third place winners in Lagos. Sadly, Pillars' Cup crash to Prime became the second the Kano-based side have suffered at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja following a previous defeat to second tier Gateway United by the same scoreline and stage in 2014. Following Pillars' ouster, Prime will continue their fairy-tale run against Warri Wolves in the Round of 16 of the Federation Cup.
